Education Skills and Livelihood Development
Nai Manzil- Under the Government of India’s Nai Manzil Scheme, employment-linked skill development training was imparted to 1,413 candidates from minority communities to enhance their employability and empower them socio-economically. The program aimed to bridge the education and skill gap among minority youth, focusing on both vocational training and basic education for those who had dropped out of school.
The training covered high-demand sectors such as IT, retail, hospitality, healthcare, and manufacturing. The curriculum was designed in collaboration with industry partners to ensure it aligned with market requirements. Alongside technical skills, participants received soft skills training in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing them holistically for the workforce.
Special focus was placed on providing free training, study materials, and counseling to ensure accessibility and inclusivity. Job fairs and placement drives were conducted to connect candidates with potential employers, resulting in successful placements across various industries. Basic education was also provided to enable candidates to achieve Class 8 or 10 equivalency, further enhancing their qualifications.
This initiative has significantly improved livelihood opportunities for minority youth, helping them secure sustainable employment, contributing to poverty alleviation, and fostering social inclusion, while promoting the government’s vision of an inclusive and empowered society.
Seekho aur Kamao- Under the Seekho Aur Kamao Scheme of the Government of India, employment-linked skill development training was successfully imparted to 2,500 candidates from minority communities to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship skills. The program aimed to equip participants with industry-relevant skills, foster economic self-reliance, and promote social inclusion among minority groups.
DDUGKY- The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY), an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development, has successfully imparted skill development training to rural youth in Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir, focusing on enhancing employability and fostering self-reliance.
Training in Uttarakhand: In the District of the state of Uttarakhand, 450 candidates were trained in various industry-relevant domains under the DDUGKY scheme. The training was designed to align with the demands of the job market, incorporating both technical and soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management. All 450 candidates successfully obtained certifications from Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), validating their skills and knowledge.
Out of the trained candidates, 375 secured placements in wage employment across reputed organizations in sectors like retail, IT, hospitality, and healthcare. Additionally, 25 candidates ventured into self-employment, leveraging the entrepreneurial skills imparted during the training.
Training in Jammu and Kashmir: Similarly, Jammu and Kashmir, 350 candidates underwent skill development training tailored to market demands. Of these, 275 candidates earned certifications from SSCs, demonstrating their domain expertise.
The program facilitated wage employment for 200 candidates, ensuring their integration into the formal workforce. Another 25 candidates opted for self-employment, establishing small businesses with the knowledge and guidance provided through the scheme.
ESTP Component of NULM- Under the Employment through Skills Training and Placement (ESTP) component of the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), training was provided to 210 urban poor candidates in Gurdaspur District of Punjab to enhance their employability and livelihood opportunities. This initiative aimed to equip candidates with industry-relevant skills and empower them to secure sustainable employment or start their own ventures.
PMKVY Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), skill development training was imparted to 1,410 candidates from the states of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. The program aimed to provide industry-relevant skills to enhance employability and promote economic self-reliance among youth.
Post-training, 1,200 candidates were certified by SSCs, validating their proficiency and increasing their employment prospects. Out of these, 1,000 candidates were successfully placed in wage employment with reputed companies across different sectors, contributing to their economic stability. Additionally, 50 candidates opted for self-employment, utilizing entrepreneurial skills acquired during the training to establish their own ventures.
